The Lemosho route to the highest point in Africa, 5895 meters, is the best option for beginners. is the best climbing option for beginners. Our program differs from standard offers the number of days and approach to acclimatization. As an example, if the weather is favorable, we make the ascent on the 7th day. More often it is the sixth day or even the fifth.
No special technical skills are required to participate in the ascent, just general physical fitness, stamina and the absence medical contraindications.
Progam
Arrival in Kilimanjaro airport, transfer to Moshi 4* hotel. Accommodation in 2-bed rooms. Evening briefing, equipment check, discussion of safety equipment.
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the beginning of the route (2370 m). Registration and obtaining permits. Trekking to Mkhubwa camp (2900 m) through tropical forest. Overnight stay at the camp in the forest. Gain in altitude: 600 meters. Distance: 6 km. Time: 3-4 hours
Trekking to Shira 2 camp (3800). Exit to the Shira plateau. In clear weather from here there is a view of Meru volcano (the fifth peak of Africa). Gain in altitude: 900 meters. Distance: 14 km Time: 8-9 hours
Trekking to Barranco camp (3930). Acclimatization exit to 4600 (Lava Tower). Descent and overnight in the camp at 3930. Altitude gain: 900 meters Distance: 7 km Time: 4-6 hours
Trekking to Karanga camp (4130). Early exit and passing the Barranco wall. Then rest and finish the trek to Karanga camp. Gain in altitude: 200 meters Distance: 9 km Time: 3-4 hours
Trekking to Barafu camp (4670). Rest before ascent, early dinner. Gain in altitude: 600 meters Distance: 9 km Time: 3 hours
Attempt to climb Uhuru peak (5895). Early exit (org. at midnight), descent to the camp at 3750 or 3100 m (final decision is left to the guide according to the condition of the participants). Gain in altitude: 1220 meters. Distance: 5 km up/ 12 km down. Time: 5-7 hours up/ 4-6 hours down
Descent to Mweka gate (1640 m), presentation of certificates of successful ascent; barbecue; transfer to the hotel. Distance: 10 km Time: 3 hours
Breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport.
