Summit! Today Valeri and Sergei were on the top of Jannu!

21.10.2007Good NEWS. October 21st. In the morning on 9:10 Valeri and Sergei were on the top Jannu!
Yesterday the snow was falling all the night.
At 10 a.m. yesterday they were beginning climbing from 7 400 m just right up to the head wall and basically on the south side. To climb faster they left part of equipment and took minimum: tent, gas. All the night they sit in the tent without sleeping bag on 76 00 meters. On 6 a.m. October 21st they started to climb up to the top. We had a radio connection at 9:30 a.m. from the top. They were making photos and were going to go down by the same way.

Team is now on the West shoulder. They are very tired. It is extremely cold and windy. They will have a night here. I'm not sure they have any meal but tent, gas, sleeping bag they have.
