On May 10, Valeri returned from ABC to the Base Camp which located on 4750 m.
He has just made his second attempt to climb the West Face of Chomo Lonzo Main, but it was not successful.
He reached 6600 m, but he had to descend. The weather was really bad.
From Valeri’s phone call, “…Two times I tried to climb the West Face of Chomo Lonzo Main and two times I had to go back.
The causes are the extremely unstable weather and hard climbing. The West Face of Chomo Lonzo Main is very steep, so it is not possible to make a good bivouac.
During my climbing I will have at least six or seven nights without enough sleep which is difficult on this altitude.
Due to all these facts, I might change my plans. Most likely I will climb the Chomo Lonzo North instead of Chomo Lonzo Main.
Right now I am in the Base Camp trying to think over the situation.”
